We all know very well that idly is very traditional South Indian breakfast which is a light and healthy food. Idly batter can be prepared by using idly rice or idly rawa. We get the soft idly if idly batter is prepared carefully. So let us know how to make idly batter to make soft and yummy idly.
INGREDIENTS:
Whole urad dal:
1 cup
Idly rawa or
idly rice: 3 cups
Water: as
much needed
Salt: as
much needed
Poha (flattened
rice): ¼ cup
Preparation:
First take
uraddal add some extent of poha to it (If we add poha we get the
idly very
soft) and soak in sufficient water for two or three hours.
Take idly
rawa or idly rice in a separate bowl and soak in water .So let both uraddal and
idly rawa soak in water for 2 or 3 hours.
After the two
items are soaked well take soaked urad dal in mixer grinder and grind well like
soft and smooth batter.
Take the
soaked idly rawa and take out the water from it and store in a separate bowl.
Or if it is idly rice then grind the rice well like batter but for idly rawa
not necessary to grind just take the water from rawa with hand.
Now add the
grinded uraddal batter to the wet idly rawa where all the water is taken out.
Now mix the both
contents well and store in a bowl separately over the night until it gets
fermented.
Now the
batter is ready to prepare soft and smooth idly.
