How To Make Pongal Recipe

Pongal is very famous South Indian Recipe which is very tasty and easy to prepare. It can be taken as breakfast or lunch with combo of vada or garelu.


INGREDIENTS:


Rice:  1 cup

MoongDal or pesarapappu:   1 cup

Turmeric   :  As much needed

Cashew:  As needed

Cumin Seeds / Jeera:  ½ tbspn

Mustard seeds: few

Channadal: ½ tbspn

Ghee:  2 tbspn

Oil: 2 tbspn

Curry Leaves: few

Salt: as much needed

Hing: a pinch

Pepper: 1tbspn



                                       


PREPARATION:


Take a pan with 3tbspn of ghee and heat for 2mts.

Now take moongdal into the same pan and fry it in the ghee in a low flame and keep it aside.

                                    


Now take few cashews and roast in the same ghee pan and keep it aside.




Take one cup of rice and moongdal in the same quantity add sufficient water and sufficient turmeric and cook in a pressure cooker until 3 or 4 whistles. The quantity should be mushy.


                                  

Add sufficient salt to cooked content.

Now take a pan with few spoons of oil and 2 or 3 spoons of ghee and let it heat for 2mts.

Now add mustard seeds, pepper seeds, channadal, cumin seeds, curry leaves, to that oil and roast it for few minutes.


                                                  

Now add well roasted seeds to already cooked pongal and mix it well.

Finally add cashew that well roasted in ghee to the pongal and mix it well.

Now serve the colourful tasty spicy pongal in a bowl.

You can taste pongal with combo of spicy Pallichutney.
