Sambar is
popular traditional delicious recipe in South India. It is main course in India.
Before we prepare Sambar we all need to know how to prepare sambar powder to
make tasty mouth watering sambar. We can prepare sambar powder, rasam powder easily at home.Let us see how to make Sambar powder easily at
home.
INGREDIENTS:
Cumin seeds (jeera):
3 tbsp
Coriander
seeds (daniyalu): ½ cup
Dry red chilies:
20
Fenugreek seeds
(menthulu): 2tbspn
Black pepper
(miriyalu): 1tbspn
Cannadal (senaga
pappu): 2tbspn
Uraddal (minapappu):
2tbspn
Toordal (kandipappu):
1tbspn
Curry
leaves: few
Mustard
seeds: 1/2tbspn
Asafoetida (inguva):
2 or 3 pinches
Turmeric powder
(haldi): 1/2tbspn
PREPARATION:
First dry
all the seeds in sun and keep them separately.
Now take a
pan and heat in a low flame.
Take half
cup of coriander seeds cumin seeds into that heat pan and roast well for 2
minutes until they turn to light brown color and keep aside in a large plate.
Now wipe the
pan and next take red chilies and roast them as well and keep them aside.
Next take
fenugreek seeds and roast well and place it separately.
Repeat the
same process roast all the seeds (blackpepper, channadal, toordal, uraddal, curry leaves, and mustard seeds) roast all separately for 2 or 3 minutes and keep
separately.
Now let all
the roasted well seeds cool down to room temperature.
Now all the roasted
seeds to mixer grinder add some quantity of asafetida and turmeric powder and salt and grind them all well.
Take the
well grinded mixture or powder to a dry clean plate and let it cool down to
room temperature.
Now store
the powder in clean container and close with a lid tightly.
Now we can
prepare tasty Sambar whenever we want using above Sambar powder.
We can use
this Sambar powder for 2 or 3 months.
